Off-Grid And On YouTube 4/18/23
My friend John Vanlieu came for a short visit the other day all the way from the Dakotas. He actually helped me quite a bit while he was here. We re-wired the electric fence for the piglets, ( https://youtu.be/_HhX_V78oF8 ) and installed this summers rainwater catchment system Which video will be released shortly as well as several other things that needed to be done on the homestead. I was enthralled with his videos on his YouTube Channel, https://www.youtube.com/@jvanlieu

#whatdoes100buy Collaboration 4/11/23
As the weather is beginning to warm up and all that is left of the snow are the piles so so ardently constructed with the tractor this winter, I find myself moving outside. This Morning I took my first spring walk down the road to the snow plow turn around on the far side of the seasonal road and back. How beautiful! The birds were singing, and no mosquitos or deer flies are out yet, which made for a wonderful walk. Yesterday I released the video of my #whatdoes100buy youtu

Waiting For Spring 4/4/23
I write these blogs about a week ahead so I am sure not to miss one if life gets crazy, So today on March 29th, I am sitting here at the table with my coffee trying to think of something interesting, smart, or witty to write. My mind is slightly distracted by the fact that when I hit the switch for my well pump this morning nothing happened. It sometimes can take a few seconds for the water to reach the end of the hose, but this took way too long. I went outside and checked

Tractor Down! I Broke My Branson 2515H! 3/28/23
Well, I knew it was only a matter of time before it happened. When you work with a piece of equipment eventually something on it will fail, Anf for me, the last time I plowed I lost the ability to shift from first, second, and third gear. I called the Dealer Burrville Equipment and asked if it was an easy fix that I could do assuming it was a common problem. They called back shortly having talked to the Mechanic and said sure, Just go through the rubber st the base of the sh

Planning for Success 3/21/23
If you are familiar with me or my YouTube Channel at all you know I don't always finish well. Many of my walls in the cabin are still covered in the chic but ever-stylish R-19 Wallpaper. My Harvests in the last few years from my gardening efforts have been light due to late summer apathy. My novel has been lacking the last 75-100 pages for 2 years and so on. This year I am trying to remedy some of that, Garden wise anyway by joining a community of gardeners, foragers, hunter

Happy Valentine's Day 2/14/23
Valentine's day used to be wonderful for me. I would try to get Wendy something special or do something special for her. It was a day to express my great love for her to her. She would give me that smile that radiated through her eyes and warmed up the whole room. Mission accomplished. Looking back now I wish I had looked at it differently. Instead of one day a year, EVERY DAY Would be Valentine's Day. Don't get me wrong, I loved and expressed that love in some way every

Replacing a recoil on a Predater 2000w Generator 2/07/23
The other day My 9,000 Watt Generator quit on me while I was doing Laundry. So I figured I would just crank up the 2000Watt Predator Suitcase Generator just to top off the batteries. The joke was on me when my recoil cord snapped off in my hand and needed to be replaced. Though I have a video set to come out on the process Friday https://youtu.be/IZZG3ybw8bI , I know many people prefer to read instructions. So here we go! You will need a Philips Head (cross tip) screwdriver

Avian Flu and You 1/31/23
Over 52 MILLION chickens have been culled (killed by the hand of man) in 2022 and 2023. And there are now warnings out about backyard small flocks. Let's get into this a little shall we? I have been searching in vain for a number, even an estimation of how many chickens have died from the bird flu. I am easy, I'll take anecdotal evidence of a farmer coming out to find dead chickens in his coop. I have found none.Zip, Nada. I understand that this virus affects large-scale c

The War on Wood. 01/17/23
Tree huggers. Not your evilest of people. In fact, I love trees myself. However, It would seem that the modern-day echo warrior has evolved from the lunatic chaining themselves to the tree to the lunatic in the Three-piece suit in Albany and Washington DC. Gov. Hochul apparently attempted to sneak legislation through that would outlaw propane stoves, and depending on who you believe all propane heat. I believe it should be an embedded law nationwide that an amendment or add-
