Truth Be Told 3/15/23

I have a pet peeve. Yes people there are things that bother me. Go figure. You may agree with me on this, or you may not, I may be right (I think I am), or I may be wrong. This doesn't even come close to affecting THE TRUTH!

I hate, I mean chill up my spine, instant headache hate, to hear people say" Thats MY truth, or that is THEIR truth. NO! Just NO!

Truth is not subjective. It doesn't care about your feelings or your beliefs. It doesn't give two shakes what you or I want it to be.

Truth is set in stone!

This is just common sense. The fire is hot. Ice is cold. It doesn't matter what you want it to be. You can try to prove me wrong, though I do not suggest holding your hand in a flame. The Truth WILL show itself if you do!

The phrase His or Her truth suggests something that is entirely impossible.

It would suggest that someone else's truth may vary from THE TRUTH. And it doesn't.

Reality is a bugger. There are many perceptions of Reality.

One who is color blind may see reality differently. they may even view Truth in a different way.

They may see grass as being I don't know let's say red. However, the Truth is still that the true color of the grass HAS NOT CHANGED. You can proclaim from the rooftops that it is any other color, but the TRUTH remains that grass when healthy reflects green light and therefore is in FACT, in TRUTH the color we call green.

There are many hard and offensive topics that we may apply this fact to but I want nothing less. Apply it as you see fit.

Take the age of the earth for instance. There are those who look at the scientific facts and claim that the earth is millions of years old.

There are those who look at the same scientific facts and say it can be no more than 10,000 years old. Both are using the scientific method of using the five senses to investigate, and test clues in the present to draw conclusions about the past.

The Truth doesn't care what either side thinks. It just is. Both sides are applying their worldview to the evidence, both sides make assumptions about things that may have affected the evidence they are studying. But the truth remains the same.

Truth is objective. It has no desires, no opinions. By definition it is true. You cannot impose your will on the Truth.

So no my dear Sirs, or Maams. You don't get your own truth. Either an event happened, or it didn't. Either it is True or it is a Lie. There are no other options.

Jesus said, "You shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free."

What an odd statement. That is until He appeared before Pilate and Pilate asked Him "What is Truth?"

Jesus did not verbally reply. But I imagine in my mind's eye that He spread His arms to indicate He was in fact Truth. For knowing Jesus does in fact set one free.

So the next time you hear someone claiming that "that's my truth." or "That's his/her truth." think about what they are saying.

In effect, they are claiming that " ignoring evidence to the contrary, what you may see or hear or know, This is what I claim as MY Truth which does not depend on facts, evidence, or reason. I have my own Truth that may differ from Reality."

Most of the time you will find that they have other motives, good or bad, to reject the cold hard, objective Truth. Look beyond the claim and I am willing to bet you will find a hurt, wounded, or otherwise broken person who may not have the strength to face... The Truth.
